SO-AN : OUR STREET

Beautiful Parisian spaces  by design duo Isabelle Stanislas and Leiko Oshima of so-an. I love their mix of high detail against raw materiality, eclectic taste in furniture and perfectly selected artwork. Simple and tres chic.

I also love the flooring in image 3.

URBANIST : A DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Urbanist is a design company based in Haryana, India. I was linked to them via Studio Annetta’s blog this morning (you must check her blog out if you haven’t already) Their work stretches across a number of fields from interior design service, to furniture design and manufacturing. A tidy package of work if you ask me. This level of control over all elements of a design is clearly evident in all their interiors.

WHEN BAD DESIGN HAPPENS TO COOL PEOPLE

WTF…….

check out these photos of British super model Agyness Deyn’s Williamsburg loft which is currently on the market for 2.5 Million in the popular Mill Building located on the exclusive north side of the burg.

seriously…WHO let this happen? The salami bathtub, under the sea bedroom and a bucket full of vintage ‘shit’. WOW this place is special.

READ ON : ONLINE INTERIOR DESIGN MAGAZINES

The best thing about reading online magazines is that they are a wealth of great product information that you dont necessarily get from blogs, yet they dont leave you feeling ripped off by buying the latest glossy read only to find that it is pumped FULL of product advertisements.

Below are my favorite online ‘decorating’ reads. click to read…enjoy!

TRENDS 2012 : JINO MURAD

Interior Designer Jino Murad forecasts the up and coming trends for 2012. What do you think will be hot…or not… this year?

PARQUET FLOORING

As exhibited by designer Tuierry Lemaire in most of his ski chalet projects, I think this style could equally work in modern and traditional settings.

Kelly Wearstler is another designer who was inspired by this style and has covered most of the walls in her new fashion store in parquet.

ECLECTIC ELECTRIC

A look that is energetic, playful and daring, designer India Mahdavi demonstrates this style theory in many of her successful projects time and time again. This concept of different styles of furniture and punchy colours create a complete unique bespoke interior.

BLACK ON BLACK

Completely fashion inspired and demonstrated in the most recent projects completed by Architect Joseph Dirand and advertising guru Cindy Gallop. This look is strong and not for the faint hearted and can be beautifully achieved by using soft luxurious finishes such as leather panels, black lace, sheers and velvets.

BLEACH BLONDE : MARTE MARTE ARCHITEKTEN

“The smooth exposed concrete surfaces find their counterpart in the interior in the tactile and optical softness of the white pine floors, built-in furniture and walls.”-http://www.dailyicon.net

Im currently working on a project and developing samples for a blonde oak. Difficult I must say. I think that MMA have really succeeded in getting a perfect consistency and softness to the oak. Grrr….If I could only get my hands on their spec!
